I joined wikiHow in July 2005, but dip in and out. Love reading the articles. I own and work with horses and that is the topic that I mainly haunt on here. I still learning all the rules and policies on here but am happy to help anyone who asks.
[edit]Articles I've Started
| 12 |
This author has written 12 wikiHow article(s). |
|
- Make a Haynet This is the first article I wrote. I had been meaning to write one about making rope halters as well, but there is already one about that.
- Decorate a Christmas Tree Elegantly This was to answer a request. I was happy to find a request I knew enough about to answer.
- Deal with a Horse with 'Movement Vices' This was to answer a question from a user. I originally covered all vices but there is another article that covers "mouthy vices".
- Discipline a Horse Without Using Aggression I wrote this because I was unhappy with some of the advice being given in some of the horse articles about disciplining horses.
- Wash a Horse Rug This is the worst part of spring! This is how I do it. Hopefully people will add their own ways.
- Clean the Sheath of a Horse This is the best advert for keeping a mare! I thought that the horse articles here didn't prepare people for the more "glamorous" side of horse ownership. Next, being farted on (if you're lucky), pee and pus!
- Save Time and Money As a Horseowner Before you can become a horseowner you have to take a vow of poverty, so this should be helpful to all horseowners. When I wrote this I was laid-up so not earning much, which is how I thought of this. (Featured Article Candidate)
- Condition Score a Horse I was editing Correctly Feed a Horse and added a step about monitoring the weight of a horse. I couldn't fully explain about condition scoring in that article so I make this one. (Featured Article)
- Heat Water Using Solar Energy This came from the need to expand another article as well. I was editing a WI article, Give Your Large Dog a Bath and thought the dog might like some warm water. I've never used this to wash a dog, but I have used it to take a shower (always in the middle of the day). Of course when it's cold and wet, and you really want a warm shower it doesn't work!
- Make a Feed Scoop This also came from editing Correctly Feed a Horse. The idea of making feed scoops out of bottles is as old as the hills, but (as far as I know) I came up with the idea of making them so they held a certain amount of feed. I have done this since I started feeding my horse a product called Blue Chip. They put one of their products in a container that can be used to measure their other products. So that's where the idea came from.
- Use a Tape to Weigh a Horse This also came from editing Correctly Feed a Horse. I don't really use this very often and rely on condition scoring to monitor weight, but it is basic horse care knowledge. I have quite a few weight tapes, which I all got free from feed manufactures or magazines. (Featured Article Candidate)
- Cope With Losing Faith in Your God I wrote this because some other articles read like losing faith is somehow a good thing, or something that can be controlled. There was nothing to help cope. It needs a fair amount added, hopefully by lots of different people. This is a very personal thing, so no two people will deal with it the same way.
- Manage a Laminitis Prone Horse I have always kept my horse on laminitis management, though she has never had laminitis (touch wood), she is a good-doer and part pony. Another user's horse had a bout of laminitis that triggered me to write this article.

[edit]Bits and Bobs
These are little useful tips I know. They aren't enough to make an article, so I will put them here until I can find a suitable article to add them to.
- Cut fruit&veg thinly/to avoid bruising with a serrated knife.

These are title of articles that I hope to write when I get around to it!

- Keep Records for Your Horse
- Take Off a Top During a Nosebleed
