KIS...

Thank you SO MUCH for the link to the troll article at the bottom of the "sex guides" thread. VERY much needed! I was getting pretty tired of people taking the bait on that one as well.... and I've locked the thread after your comment. (probably should have announced the fact that I did it BEFORE I locked the thread... but please redirect any grumbles on that topic to me.)

I also enjoyed your rich v poor soliloquy about the guys drinking together... VERY good stuff! (Saw it in RC... but I thought it ought to be posted all over the internet!)

Why did you change the title of "HOw to Pass Time on the Computer When You are Bored in a Class in High School"? We named it that for a specific reason and WE DON'T APPRECIATE ONE BIT YOU RENAMING ARTICLES YOU DIDN'T EVEN WRITE!!!!!!

WE made the title of the article "How to pass time on the computer when you are bored in a class in high school" to benefit the readers because that is what WE thought of NOT "How to use wikihow to help fill the instructional vaccuum at your school"!!!!! WHO in their right mind would think of a title such as that?? NOT US OR ANY SANE PERSON WITH A LIFE FOR THAT MATTER. So if you would please change it back we would greatly appreciate it...so do it.

How to Use wikiHow to Help Fill the Instructional Vaccuum at Your School may be long and awkward and contains words not likely to be searched...

How about trying one of these:

I put this tag: "{"{title|Use the Computer When You're Bored in Class|date=11-18-2008}}

or Use wikiHow When You're Bored in Class

On 20:07, November 18, 2008

TakeTheTime said:

People may more likely search

~ "computer" or

~ "bored" or

~ "class"

so I prefer the one I tagged onto it...

Well, "that" vacuous problem in education clicked a switch in my mind as a retired math and English teacher. It is likely because reformers have passed laws and reg's requiring:

  1. special ed to be mainstreamed,
  2. special ed can even be in classes for gifted students,
  3. ESL (English as a Second Language) level 2 students can be in regular classes, but they may not understand or use many of the regular or irregular verb tenses, and may have rudimentary vocabulary and usage skills.

True story: A standardized test used special jargon like this "calculate the length of the guywire" (for a height on a pole to a point some feet from the pole on the ground). ESL students later asked: "What kind of man or boy was that?"

It was like "wireguy" to them is like "casa blanca" which is literally "house white" (not white house which would be talking about paint to them) and so "guy-wire" may translate like "a man made out of wire" in their minds since English adjectives and other syntax are "backward" to many of those students.

IQ's run from 75 to 180 or such but counselors and admins often mainstream almost all IQ's into regular classes--unless parents demand a change to a more appropriate class.

Of course we also can not be allowed to know their IQ's so I am just "guessing!"

Everyone is required Algebra I and Geometry nowdays in order to "be fair." Which is not really fair to many of them!

Those math classes bore millions of lesser motivated students... and even the gifted are bored also because they're through with assignments while others are "trying to get started"...

That makes it almost impossible to have a "good" result in class unless the teacher just waters it down. Then the gifted are shortchanged!

Sure, you can have learning centers (projects, books to read, etc.) and extra worksheets, etc., but many lazy ones don't want to do "much" extra work, unless you can give them a grade of 110 or such on their report cards, but 100 usually is as high as the scale goes...

Also with Special Ed -- the student may have a 60 but that gets him a 90 if that is his "accomodation" for his disability--believe it or not.

But they say we can not curve grades for students of regular ability -- 90 to 110 IQ... guessing the IQ's of course.

Maybe I'll write an article about those sorts of thing...

The $100,000 Dollar Teacher: I saw the cover on "Amazon"--after you left the message.

I was a $53,000 teacher and would be at a 54k'er now--as Texas pay is one of the lower twenty in pay--probably, but we have a moderate winter, and it is my "home on earth." I wouldn't trade Texas.

We get bored because we get done our work faster than others so we are able to go on the computer, therefore we get bored and we get on wikiHow to pass our time, as our original title suggested.

We are NOT interested in filling up vaccuums we are't trying to clean here, we're just trying to wikiHow.

So may we PLEASE change the title back.

Thanks

Alll I want to know is HOW to change the title back!! If your can't inform me of this, is there a wikiHow for this how to since it is so difficult for you to give me a straight answer. If I had wanted to merge with another article, thats what I would have done in the first place, but I didn't so therefore I DO NOT want to add information to another article. Thanks

Hi, KnowItSome

Please improve and support one/some of these pages--in some small (or big) way. Or if you like then just: Support "fa" on one or more of the titles. image:Blue_wink.gif .

If so, that is fabulous. If you work on a page or more, the better it/they will get.

I would really like your edits for making the article:
~ more complete and
~ easier to read -- or
~ to make more sense.
Helpful "how to's" are the most important asset of wikiHow to attract readers and editors.

Stress Anxiety and Crisis Management / OR / Managing Negative Feelings

Personal Development

Losing Weight

Belief

TakeTheTime said:

Yeah, thanks--some of them are so sketchy or skinny (not developed fully)... but we have very little about sanity, mental block, confusion, etc.

I hope some people can see and possibly get help from some of those articles,

and your editing and/or "supporting fa"--on one/some of them, could possibly impact thousands....

Of course, they will read what strikes them as interesting (or as possibly useable knowledge)...

Thanks, again.

You nominated Get Good at Bitefite for deletion on the basis of not a how-to, but I have changed the tag to a format tag instead. Anytime an article contains instructions which are not in the format we like to see as described in the Writer's Guide, it is best to call for formatting rather than for deletion, since we like to encourage as many good how-to articles as we can get. If there are OTHER reasons for NFD, such as duplicate, or joke, or impossible, etc, please feel free to use one of those tags. But as the admin responsible for NFD-NOT, I generally can only delete those articles which make no attempt to provide instruction.

Well thanks for the bit of advise but Teresa already reverted it and added a imp tag along with it.
