Patrol Recent Changes: The Heartbeat of a wiki

One of the most valuable contributions you can make at wikiHow involves Recent Changes (RC), the running log where every new article and each new edit passes through its first and most critical screening. Someone needs to review each edit and make very important decisions.

In order to Patrol Recent Changes, you must have a wikiHow account and be logged in. Once you are logged in, click on the "Recent Changes" link in the Navigation menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

Special:RecentChanges

When you click on this link, you will go to a page showing some of the recent edits made to wikiHow. On this page, just click on the first link labeled "Diff" to begin patrolling changes.

On the next page, the old version of the page will be on the left hand side of the screen and the new version will be on the right side. Compare the two colums, looking to see what was added or deleted. If the edits are high quality, simply click "Mark as Patrolled" to approve the change. If however there is a problem with the edit, press "skip" to ask another editor to review it, fix it yourself, revert the change, or tag the problem for an editor to fix it later.
